British Asparagus Festival

It may make your wee smell but we love asparagus. Our favourite way is gently wiped with a a little olive oil, a grind of sea salt, then popped under a hot grill for a few minutes.

The British Asparagus Festival kicks off on St George’s Day, April 23, with The Great English Asparagus Run and a fun-packed day of silver bands, Morris dancing and asparagus products including sausages, jams, pies, chutneys, soaps, cake and of course traditional local “Gras” to taste and buy. If you fancy an evening of asparagus cooking demos and gourmet eating, stick May 18 in your diary, Eckington Manor Cookery School will be running one that night.
